Chevrolet Sail U-VA now available in diesel in base variant!

As of early 2013, Chevrolet Sail U-VA will be available in a new base diesel version as well. Before this, the hatchback came in four variants of 1.2 L petrol engine with four cylinders and 1199cc displacement and only three variants of diesel version. While that was good enough for Indian roads, the new version of the hatchback comes with 1.3L turbocharged smartech, four cylinder engine with a dual overhead cam shaft. This engine is capable of producing 76.44 bhp power as opposed to 84.28 bhp of earlier petrol version. The torque is a higher in diesel version at 205 Nm as compared to 113Nm in the petrol engine. The engine will be powered with a five speed gearbox. The improved new base diesel fueled engine can be considered better suited for Indian roads as far as efficiency and driving comfort is concerned. Diesel version of Chevrolet Sail U-VA fares better in fuel efficiency category with 22.10 kmpl average as compared to 18.20 kmpl in the petrol version.

Sail U-VA is one of the best selling hatchbacks manufactured by Chevrolet. However, the new release comes as a measure by the company to attract more customers and revive sales. News of its new base diesel version is being received well among Indian customers. Except for the engine, not many significant changes have been made in the car. The changes done include replacing alloy wheels with steel wheels and introduction of body colored bumpers. The diesel Sail U-VA is expected to be priced at Rs 5.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi price).

I find solace in appreciating the beauty of automobiles. Bikes aren't my cup of tea, however there are few masterpieces that I would love to own one day. I dream of driving the Volvo FH16 750 someday. I am also into more heavy stuff like, astronomy, astrophysics (minus the number crunching).
