A few months ago, we reported Maruti’s plans of coming out with a CNG model and here it is! Yes, Maruti has launched the CNG variant of the highly successful MPV, Ertiga. It has been aptly labelled, Maruti Ertiga Green CNG!

As the months have gone by, Maruti has ensured that it stays on top of the MPV segment with Ertiga’s petrol and diesel variants. With the arrival of the CNG version it has only taken a long lead in the MPV race, already dominated by the Ertiga. The all new Ertiga Green CNG comes with a factory fitted CNG kit, fitted on the conventional assembly line at the Maruti plants.

The new Ertiga Green CNG comes with a brand new i-GPI technology which stands for intelligent- Gas port Injection. What is does is that it uses a duel ECU which ensures delivery of the calibrated amount of fuel to the engine. In layman’s terms, this car will run out of road before it runs out of fuel! Ertiga Green CNG is designed and engineered to deliver about 23.4km/kg of CNG!

The exterior and the interior remain the same with an obvious availability of mode switch. Banking on the other CNG releases from Maruti such as the Alto, Wagon R, Eeco, SX4 and Zen Estilo, we are hoping that Ertiga delivers what it promises to.

The Ertiga Green CNG will be available in all the metropolitans for starters and will be launched in the other cities as it picks up pace. And lastly, this beauty comes with an even more attractive price tag! As it is going to be launched only in LXi and VXi variants the price ranges from 6.5 Lakhs for the LXi to 7.3 lakhs for the VXi version.

Verdict: Going by the fuel prices and the consciousness among the nation’s patrons about the environment, we suggest you shift to CNG ASAP and do your good deed for the day.
