Maruti launches special edition Swift RS
Maruti Suzuki India launched limited edition Swift RS this Tuesday. The new special edition variant offers several changes in the interior and designing of the car as compared to its predecessor. As such, it also comes with a higher price tag.
This limited edition version of Maruti Swift’s third generation hatch comes as a pleasant surprise. With its sport exterior and distinctive choice of colors, the Maruti Swift RS is a delight for all Swift fans. Incidentally, this is the second time Maruti has come up with Swift’s new edition, the previous being its one millionth model edition which was launched to celebrate sale of one millionth unit of Maruti Swift. However, that edition did not go too well with customers primarily due to its poor aesthetics.
But the new Swift RS comes with several changes and they all look nice. The limited edition model has been fitted with 3 piece body kit which makes for far better model to look at than its predecessor. The front and rear bumper have been enriched and a rood spoiler has been added. Black wheel covers will also feature in this limited edition model. The outside rearview mirror will feature blue theme colors. And illuminated Swift emblem will find place at the sill on all the four doors.
The interior has been upgraded too to include upholstery made in art leather. The combination has been kept at black and blue to match the exterior. Paying attention to minor details, the floor mats have also been given the same rally RS theme. The infotainment unit also gets upgraded with high end music system with CD player, AUX-in and USB facility.
Under the hood, Maruti Swift RS is essentially same as the standard model with its 1.2 liter petrol engine that produces 86PS and 114Nm torque and 1.3 liter oil burner with 75PS power and 190Nm torque capacity. The hatchback features five speed manual transmission system to transmit the power to its front wheels.
With new Swift RS, Maruti India is offering its customers a more customized experience. The much sportier looking Swift RS definitely looks like an upgrade over the standard model. It can be anticipated that the launch might be one of the attempts by the company to woo back its customers. MSI recently reported 7.8 percent decline in domestic sales in June with sale of 77,002 units as compared to over 83,531 units the same time previous year. The launch, as such, is a dual attempt to add sporty look to Swift which essentially has been a great selling model of the company since its launch in May 2005 and recapture its share of market.
The limited edition model, however, shall be available only for a short duration. It is currently available in VXi (petrol) and VDi (Diesel) variants and will cost Rs 24,500/- more than the standard model. It shall be available at all Maruti Suzuki dealers from early July, 2013.
