Nissan Motor until now was relying on sedan Sunny and hatchback Micra in India. Recently introduced Terrano is latest addition to its volume sales puller cars. It seems to have proved itself right as the company has received whopping 6,000 advanced bookings for recently introduced ‘Terrano’. Price tag of this sport utility vehicle begins from Rs 9.58 lakh. This renowned Japanese carmaker produces the compact sports utility vehicle in association with Renault. Nissan and this French-based auto sector frontrunner have established a manufacturing unit at Oragadam. Cost of the entire manufacturing plant is estimated round about 4,400 Cr. In the segment, this Nissan SUV will be competing with Renault Duster, Ford Ecosport, Tata Safari Storme, Mahindra XUV 5OO and others.

Product range of Terrano is comprised of seven variants that include three diverse engine alternatives. Those three options include 104PS petrol, 110PS diesel, and 85PS diesel. 100PS diesel variant is equipped with six-speed transmission. Rest of the variants are equipped with 5-speed gearbox. Where at one side, price of 85PS diesel is Rs 9.58 lakhs, on other side; price featured by XL Plus is Rs 10.92 lakh. As far as, 110PS diesel XL variant is concerned, it is priced at Rs 11.31 lakh. Premium variant called XV Premium is priced at Rs 12.44 lakh.

Terrano Range was introduced a month ago. Considering the same fact, it is truly commendable that company received such a hefty pre-booking orders. Indian President, ‘Kenichiro Yomura’ of the company has reportedly revealed that launch of Terrano is quite an ambitious one as a lot hinges on the response fetched by it regarding plans for upcoming product launches. With the launch of Terrano, Nissan has successfully jumped in the foray of fastest growing compact sports utility vehicle segment. Entry of this leading Japanese automaker in SUV segment is certainly going to make competition stiffer and interesting. Apparently, customers will be reaping the benefits of the competition. More intense competition gets, more it will be beneficial for end-users. Interestingly, Terrano is the first compact SUV launched in India by Nissan brand that is locally manufactured.
