Volvo India finally launched its much anticipated V40 cross country in India last week. Using the CBU route, Volvo V40 is an action packed car that promises a lot. V40 has been launched in the luxury segment with which company hopes to grab a greater share of the Indian market.

Volvo V40 cross country comes with 2.0 liter inline turbo D3 diesel engine with 150 bhp power and 360Nm peak torque capacity. Six speed automatic gear transmission system or Powershift gearbox, as it is also known also features in the car. The fuel efficiency is ARAI certified at 16.8 kmpl. Besides these standard features, Volvo V40 cross country comes loaded with ABS, Dynamic control, one piece panoramic sunroof, infotainment unit with Bluetooth connectivity, park pilot for much easier parking and company’s patented City Safety system. These are a lot of features to be packed in one car, making it worthwhile its Rs 28.5 lakh price tag.

The looks and features of Volvo V40 CC are aimed to give it a place in luxury car segment and give stiff competition to its contemporaries such as Mercedes B class or BMW X1. Daytime running LEDs, 17 inch alloy wheels and front and rear skid plates make this car just as stylish as functional. X shape seats make sitting comfortable while the interior in general is stylish and chic. Customers can choose from two tone or one tone leather combination that accentuates beauty of illuminated gearshift knob and infotainment unit on the dashboard.

Interestingly, V40 cross country is a modified version of the hatchback of the same name. The changes between the two cars include ground clearance with cross country possessing 40mm more than its predecessor. The exterior has also been changed a little in the cross country by giving it a little more aggressive and rough look.

The company is hopeful about V40 CC’s performance in the company and plans to increase their sales from 800 units to around 1000 units per year. Besides this, Volvo India also has two more launches i.e. S 6 sedan and XC60 crossover in line for later part of this year.
